Congress will open border for farmers: Channi

Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi echoed the statement of Haryana’s former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, saying the Congress would open the blockade of the Haryana-Punjab border for farmers if voted to power. “Hooda sahib has already promised to open the border and it will be fulfilled,” said Channi while interacting with mediapersons at the residence of party leader in Model Town, where he met people in support of Congress candidate Sumita Singh.

Channi said farmers’ demands should be accepted. When asked about actor BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s controversial comments on the farm laws, Channi dismissed the issue, advising people not to take her seriously. “Don’t take her seriously, she has no stand. She has already withdrawn her statement. Why drag this issue further?” he said.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
