During the tour, he inspected the Vivekananda Library, the Dafeteria, girls’ and boys’ hostel complexes and gathered information about the university’s academic, social and cultural activities.
The Governor was accompanied by his wife Mitra Ghosh, MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh, Dean (Academic Affairs) Prof SC Malik, Registrar Dr Krishna Kant, along with other functionaries of the university and administrative officials.
The Governor reviewed the facilities at girls’ hostel, interacted with inmates and enquired about their satisfaction level. He commended the natural farming initiative being implemented on the university campus, stating that natural farming is a crucial necessity in today’s times, as it not only contributes to environmental conservation but also encourages a healthy lifestyle.

They visited the Dafeteria, a food-truck employing speech and hearing impaired students at the university. He praised the innovative idea and encouraged entrepreneurial spirit among youth through startups, stating that such efforts strengthen the spirit of self-reliance among students.
The Governor went around the Vivekananda Library, where he paid homage to Swami Vivekananda by laying a wreath at his statue. He inaugurated a book exhibition at the library.
Prof Ghosh also inspected the boys’ hostel complex and interacted with students residing there to get the feedback on their academic and social activities.
“Apart from being a centre of academic excellence, the MDU is also playing an instrumental role in promoting innovation, environmental conservation and value-based education,” remarked the Chancellor.
He encouraged the university authorities to continue striving for the holistic development of students.
