A review meeting regarding the inauguration was held at the district secretariat, Jagadhri, under the chairmanship of former minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar and in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta.
Kanwar Pal Gujjar said Union Minister for Housing, Urban Affairs and Energy Manohar Lal Khattar had given special importance to Lohgarh and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was taking this initiative forward with equal priority.
“This memorial will be a landmark in the world, attracting visitors from throughout the world,” said Gujjar.
He said Baba Banda Singh Bahadur fought valiantly against the atrocities of the Mughal rulers and upheld India’s cultural heritage.
“This memorial will inspire young people in the future, while also providing memories of the past. The memorial will showcase Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's struggle, valour and courage. It will also promote tourism,” he added.
Gujjar said the memorial is an important project of the Haryana Government aimed at educating future generations about history.
Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta announced that the construction would commence on October 27, marking the saint soldier’s birth anniversary.
“Social organisations should also participate enthusiastically in Baba Banda Singh Bahadur's birth anniversary programme and encourage as many people as possible to attend the programme,” said DC Parth Gupta.
He appealed to residents to join the celebrations in large numbers.
Dr Prabhleen Singh, OSD to the Chief Minister, also appealed for public participation, praising the government’s initiative and highlighting the historical significance of Lohgarh.
“The Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial to be constructed in Lohgarh will remind people of his supreme sacrifice and valour,” he said, urging all religious and social organisations to participate wholeheartedly.
