The ongoing road construction work on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway (NH-48) continued to affect traffic on Wednesday.

The traffic police in Delhi and Gurugram issued an advisory for commuters on NH-48, warning them of curbs due to the closure of service lanes between the Sirhaul border and Rajokri.

While traffic moved slowly during peak hours in the morning and evening, there were no major traffic jams.

A senior traffic police officer said travellers heading to Delhi had already adjusted their routes according to the traffic advisories issued by the Gurugram and Delhi Police, which significantly eased traffic congestion.

In the morning, long queues of vehicles and traffic jams were reported by office-goers. However, the traffic police effectively managed the congestion by the evening.

“I headed to my office in Delhi in the morning and got stuck in a long queue of vehicles just ahead of the Sirhaul border. After waiting about 10 minutes, I was able to move forward, and it took around 20 minutes to reach smooth traffic,” said Avinash Sachdev, a Gurugram resident.

“Due to the construction work, both lanes are closed, which is affecting traffic. However, our teams are continuously managing the flow, and there are no long jams on the expressway. While there were some vehicle queues in the morning, no major congestion was reported in the evening. We are working to ensure smooth traffic flow,” said Inspector (Highway) Dharmbir Singh of the Gurugram Traffic Police.
