Tensions are rising ahead of the Sirsa milk plant elections, scheduled for July 19. Nomination filing begins on June 28, but allegations of serious irregularities have already surfaced. On Monday, Milk plant chairman Bhupinder Singh, vice chairman Mangal Singh and other board members submitted a formal complaint to the Deputy Commissioner. They accused plant officials of secretly holding a zonal committee meeting on June 20 to manipulate ward reservations.

According to Bhupinder Singh, the meeting was held without informing former directors, the chairman or society members, violating clear rules. He alleged that officials acted under political pressure, including unauthorised names in the voter list and drawing ward reservations to favour certain candidates.

Singh claimed that a women reserved zone was designed in such a way that a preferred female candidate could win unopposed. He also said the video recording of the meeting was edited and manipulated. Despite prior complaints, no oversight was provided, he said. Disappointed by lack of action, board members have now decided to move to court, demanding cancellation of the June 20 meeting and a fresh draw of ward reservations in front of board members. — OC
