Congress on Wednesday won the Mayor poll for Sonepat Municipal Corporation while the BJP won the contest for the post of chairperson in Rewari Municipal Council.

Haryana Janchetna Party won the mayor seat in Ambala MC while the BJP is ahead in the Panchkula MC polls.

The counting for various wards in various local bodies is still under way.

HJC’s Shakti Rani Sharma defeated BJP’s Vandana Sharma in Ambala by a margin of over 7,000 votes.

BJP’s mayoral candidate Kulbhushan Goyal is ahead of Congress’ Upinder Kaur Walia by about 5,000 votes in Panchkula.

Meanwhile, Poonam Yadav of the BJP has won chairperson post in Rewari Municipal Council by defeating Independent candidate Upma Yadav by 2,087 votes. Congress was third here.

Congress’ Nikhil Madaan defeated BJP candidate by a margin of 13,818 votes for Sonepat mayor seat.
