The Gurugram police, while solving a blind murder case, arrested three suspects, including a couple, on Tuesday. The couple had strangled their relative to death, stored the body in a drum and thrown it in a drain.
The police recovered the body of the deceased from the drum, floating in a drain in the IMT Manesar area, on Saturday.
On Sunday, the deceased was identified as Madhubani (Bihar) native Ramparichan Sharma (27), who was living in Begampur Khatola village. An FIR was registered at the IMT Manesar police station.
The police arrested the three suspects on Tuesday. The arrested have been identified as Panchdev Thakur, his wife Indu and his friend Chandan Thakur, natives of Supol district in Bihar, who were living in Bas Kushla village in the IMT Manesar area.
During the interrogation, the main suspect, Panchdev Thakur, revealed that the deceased was his brother-in-law. The victim had an illicit relationship with his wife. Upon finding this out, he hatched a plan with his wife to eliminate the victim, he said.
“Panchdev Thakur revealed that as per the plan, on August 14, he and his wife Indu called his brother-in-law Ramparichan Sharma to their house. After Ramparichan slept, the main accused and his wife strangled him to death with an electric wire. After the murder, they hid the body at their house. On August 15, after putting the body in a drum, Panchdev and his friend Chandan Thakur threw it in the drain. We are questioning the suspect,” said Manesar ACP Vipin Ahalawat.
