A man shot himself over alleged harassment by his daughter-in-law and her parents in Employees Colony in Kaithal on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Chattar Singh (60). The police recovered a suicide note, based on which a case under the Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC against Tanvika, her father, uncle and one other person was registered, said SI of City Police Station Vijender Singh.

Yogesh, son of the deceased, said he got married with Tanvika of Alewa village of the district in 2017, but their married life was not good. She had filed a complaint of dowry against him and his father. After the interference of the panchayat members, they started living together again, but she, her father and other family members continued to harass them, due to which his father took the step. —
