The police are yet to establish the identity of a young woman whose body was found along the banks of the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Canal here on Monday. The photographs of the deceased have been sent to all nearby police stations, but no clues have been found so far. The police are also checking missing person reports and contacting people, who were present near the site.

The body, which bore bullet injuries on the head, has been placed in the PGIMS’ mortuary for post-mortem examination. The incident came to light when a person spotted the body and alerted the police. A police team rushed to the scene and found the woman in a pool of blood on the canal bank. A forensic team later examined the site and collected evidence.
