Daylight robbery at jewellery shop, loot worth Rs 20L
A daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Sector 7 today resulted in a theft worth Rs 20 lakh. The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
According to the complaint, four youths entered Tarun Jewellers around 10.30 am, shortly after the shop’s owners, Vinay Jain and his brother Tarun Jain, opened the shutter. The accused, whose faces were covered, held the brothers hostage at gunpoint, using a country-made revolver and knives and demanded jewellery and cash. Two other accomplices waited outside the shop on motorcycles, ready to flee.
The robbers stole approximately 12 kg of silver, gemstones and cash. During the escape, Tarun Jain sustained minor injuries after being pushed by one of the assailants. He believes the criminals may have conducted a prior reconnaissance of the shop.
Yashpal Singh, spokesperson for the police department, said the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the culprits, gathering evidence from the scene. He said over two teams from the crime branch are actively involved in the search for the suspects.
