Kaithal DC directs officials to ensure timely delivery of benefits of schemes

Kaithal Deputy Commissioner Preeti and Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kalia reached Majra Roheda village under an overnight public outreach programme following the call of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, where they listened to the grievances of the villagers.

DC Preeti emphasised that officials should not resort to verbal assurances or delays when addressing citizens’ applications. She instructed officials to provide clear responses to applicants regarding the reasons for ineligibility, if any, and ensure that eligible persons receive the benefits of government schemes within a stipulated time frame. She also exhorted women sarpanches to actively engage in administrative activities in their villages, conduct periodic visits to government institutions like schools, Anganwadi centers, health centres and report any issues to district authorities.

Meanwhile, various departments organised exhibitions in the village, showcasing their schemes and accepting applications related to these. The DC and SP were welcomed by village sarpanch Sunita. DC Preeti reviewed the exhibitions.

While listening to the grievances of the general public, key issues were raised, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, encroachments, delay in pension, library facilities at chaupal, water supply at the stadium, electricity connections, house repairs, and providing a rickshaw to a differently-abled person. Addressing a death-threat complaint, SP Rajesh Kalia assured appropriate action. For a complaint about crop residue burning, the DC directed a survey and immediate action. Regarding delayed wages under MGNREGA, she instructed the officials to initiate work under the scheme promptly to provide employment to labourers.

The DC stressed the significance of the night stay programme in villages, highlighting its aim to address people’s issues on the spot and ensure timely delivery of government benefits. She encouraged the villagers to maintain harmony and unity and assured a survey to identify eligible individuals for housing benefits. She also advised everyone to adhere to traffic rules, urging the use of helmets and seat belts. Youngsters were asked to listen to the elders' advice and follow traffic regulations for their safety.

SP Rajesh Kalia called on the villagers to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign and adhere to traffic rules to ensure safety. He also exhorted people to stay away from crime.
