Senior Congress leader Deepender Hooda on Monday demanded that the state government announce a bonus of Rs 1,000 per quintal for paddy farmers, citing heavy crop losses due to waterlogging.

“Farmers in the state have suffered heavy losses due to waterlogging but have not been compensated yet. During the UPA government, a bonus was always given along with the MSP. To provide relief, farmers should be given a bonus of Rs 1,000 per quintal, and the government must ensure that the entire produce is procured at MSP,” he said.

He also accused the state government of “ignoring farmers’ concerns”, while stressing that Congress workers would continue to strengthen the party across Haryana.
