Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda while speaking in the Lok Sabha during Question hour on Wednesday urged the Railway Minister to restore the five pairs of local passenger trains that were discontinued on the Delhi–Rohtak railway route.

He said before 2014, a total of 13 pairs of local passenger trains were regularly operating on this route. However, after COVID, five of these trains were stopped—three were permanently discontinued and two were converted into express trains.

“As a result, with several trains no longer running on the Rohtak–Delhi–Rohtak route, thousands of daily commuters at local stations between Rohtak and Delhi—such as Bahadurgarh, Asauda, Rohad Nagar, Sampla, Ismaila, Kharawar, Asthal Bohar, and others—are facing severe inconvenience, hence I request the Railway Minister to take immediate cognisance of the issue and restore the discontinued trains,”

said Deepender.

The MP said the Railway Minister had assured the House that detailed information regarding the trains discontinued on the Rohtak–Delhi–Rohtak route would be obtained and appropriate action taken.

“The suspension of several trains on this route has caused serious hardships for daily commuters living near the local stations between Rohtak and Delhi, including office-goers, students, farmers, labourers, and small business owners, as they are deprived of timely and affordable train services,” Deepender added.
