The police claimed that it was her insistence to return to her biological father that had led to her being depressed.

The police said her mother married the second time around 12 years ago and now, the girl wanted to return to her biological father. No suicide note was found.

According to the police, 15-year-old Rajni was student of a government school near a village in Palam Vihar area. She stayed with her stepfather and mother in a rented accommodation.

According to the family, the girl, a few months ago, got to know about her stepfather. Ever since, she had been wanting to meet her biological father. Her mother was against the idea and had scolded her. While the family thought she would come around, she went on to kill herself.

A police team reached the spot and took the body into custody. The police said the mother had told her first husband was alcoholic and had abandoned them when the girl was just three years old.

“The girl was depressed on knowing that she lives with her stepfather,” said police spokesperson Subhash Bokan. — OC
