Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur held a two-day high-level meeting at Madhuban, Karnal, with senior officers from across the state to review law and order and crime control measures. During the meeting, he issued important directives concerning crime prevention, public safety, and service delivery, emphasising that the core objective of policing is to provide fair, transparent and effective services to the public.

Placing women’s safety as the top priority, Kapur directed that senior officers should personally supervise crimes against women and ensure proper counseling of victims. He added that if an accused harasses a woman even after release from jail, it must be taken very seriously.

The meeting highlighted that in 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, there has been a 16% to 25% reduction in major categories such as rape, attempted rape, kidnapping, molestation, and dowry deaths. The DGP praised the police force’s commitment towards women’s safety and appreciated the dedicated efforts of officers and personnel in controlling crime. To prevent violent crimes, Kapur instructed district police to review sealing plans and strengthen their effectiveness. He emphasised strict monitoring of duties by officers on ERVs (Emergency Response Vehicles) and PCRs (Police Control Rooms) to deter criminals and ensure quick arrests.

From January 1, 2024, till date, Haryana Police carried out 110 encounters, killing 13 dreaded criminals and injuring 156.

In collaboration with central agencies, the police extradited nine notorious criminals, issued 70 lookout circulars and 27 red corner notices and registered 29 FIRs in fake passport cases, leading to the cancellation of 21 passports. Action against organised crime also included removal of 54 objectionable songs and deactivation of several criminals’ social media accounts.

Chairing the meeting, DGP strongly advocated for a tough stance against the inhumane practice of usury. He announced that Haryana Police will launch a 15-day special campaign across the state against moneylenders exploiting the public.

All such exploitative usurers, who lend money at exorbitant interest rates and engage in threats, coercion, and property grab, will be identified and dealt with strict legal action. He directed that their illegal earnings and assets must also be attached under the law. Public awareness will be spread to ensure no citizen falls into the trap of such usurers.

The DGP directed station house officers to take firm steps towards declaring all villages and wards in their areas drug-free. He instructed officers to arrest more cybercriminals and break their networks to lower their influence.
