Refuting the Congress’ allegations that the BJP was creating a Jat versus non-Jat narrative ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, BJP Haryana president Mohan Lal Badoli today termed these as a Congress’ propaganda.
Haryana Mange Hisaab’ yatra of the Congress was launched solely with the objective of establishing Bhupinder Hooda’s son (Deepender) in Haryana politics. The Congress cadre is dejected in the wake of the rampant factionalism within the party.

“Sometimes they (Congress) say the BJP indulges in Hindu-Muslim politics and at other times they say we indulge in Jat-non Jat politics…. This has been the Congress’ propaganda for a long time,” Badoli said in an exclusive interview with The Tribune for its flagship digital show “Decode Haryana”.
Taking pains to explain how the Jats are “adequately represented” at both the government and party organisational level, the newly-appointed BJP chief said there was no discrimination against the Jat community at any platform. “All sections of society voted for the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha polls,” he asserted.
On the reported differences among senior BJP leaders, Badoli claimed that there were no ‘manbhed’ (personal differences) among the leaders, adding quickly that even differences of opinion were also ‘short-lived’ as they were resolved in the spirit of reconciliation.
To a specific question on Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh airing his views publicly, he said being a senior leader he had every right to point out the government’s ‘shortcomings’ and seek redressal of the problems of his constituency.
Indicating certain shortcomings in booth management for the BJP’s below par performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Badoli conceded that the BJP lost around 13 lakh votes while the Congress gained 26 lakh votes as compared to the 2019 parliamentary polls. “The Congress’ gain was majorly on account of the shifting of non-Congress and non-BJP votes to it,” he asserted.
On the Agniveer issue, Badoli said every Agniveer would be rehabilitated by the Haryana Government either in the public or private sector. Terming the “Haryana Mange Hisaab” yatra of the Congress as “Hooda Mange Hisaab”, he alleged that it was launched solely with the objective of establishing his son (Deepender Hooda) in Haryana politics.
“The Congress cadre is dejected in the wake of the rampant factionalism within the party,” the BJP leader said referring to the ‘parallel yatra’ of Sirsa MP Kumari Selja.
Badoli said former CM Manohar Lal Khattar was a senior leader who ‘guided’ the party in the Assembly polls. He also refuted allegations that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was being ‘remote-controlled’ by Khattar with handpicked officers and termed these as ‘misinformation campaign’ by the Opposition.
Speaking on the role of the non-Congress and non-BJP parties in the forthcoming Assembly elections, he exuded confidence that the BJP would form the next government with a clear majority in the backdrop of its various welfare initiative for all sections of society, including farmers, women, youth and poor. “The achievements of the BJP government in its 10-year rule will be the main agenda of the party for the polls,” he declared.
Saying that over 1.32 lakh youth had been provided with government jobs with ‘no parchi, no kharchi’ (no recommendation, no bribe) in the last 10 years, he alleged that the Congress had formed a ‘bharti roko gang’ to stall the recruitment process.
He said the alleged raw deal to women wrestlers from Haryana fighting against former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was given a political colour by the Opposition. “The BJP even gave ticket to wrestlers Babita Phogat and Yogeshwar Dutt to contest the elections,” he asserted.
“Winnability of the candidates will be a major factor for the selection of candidates,” the BJP leader added.
