Digital screens at 9 bus stops to promote trip monitoring service

The Kurukshetra police have started an awareness drive to make people aware of the trip monitoring service and cybercrime in the city.

As part of the drive, nine digital screens installed on bus queue shelters by the Municipal Council (MC), Thanesar, are being used by the Police Department to educate people.

Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police (SP) Nitish Agarwal said, “The trip monitoring service of the Haryana Police is helping women to make their journey safe by connecting them to Dial-112 helpline.” The Kurukshetra Police have been running awareness campaigns in schools, colleges and at public places to make women aware of the services.

He said, “In this initiative, the district police have started a new initiative in collaboration with Thanesar MC, in which details about trip monitoring service is run on digital screens installed on bus queue shelters in the city.”

“To avail trip monitoring service facility, women need to call at the helpline number 112 and give details of the journey. They have to provide an emergency telephone number along with their travel details. The passenger will be monitored by Haryana Dial-112 by calling the applicant after every half an hour. In case of an emergency, the nearest emergency response vehicle (ERV) will be sent for necessary assistance and the emergency number shared by the passenger will also be contacted,” the SP said.

“On completion of the journey, its information will have to be given on the link provided by Dial-112. Women are appealed to use the trip monitoring service being provided by the police during their journey,” he said.

The SP said, “Through digital screens, the general public is made aware about the cybercrime too. Cyber fraudsters target every person who is connected to any digital medium, whether it is Internet media or Internet banking. Awareness is the only way to avoid cyber fraud. However, if someone gets duped, the victim should call the National Cyber Helpline 1930 immediately, to get his/her money secured.”
