Yamunanagar admn to monitor drain cleaning work through drones

Now, the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) will monitor the work of cleaning of drains with the help of drones.

Videos of cleaning of drains will be made with the help of drones and the report of the daily cleaning work will be sent to the Commissioner of the MCYJ and other officials.

These instructions were issued by Commissioner of the MCYJ Akhil Pilani.

He instructed the officials of the MCYJ and agency contractors to clean all drains completely before the arrival of monsoon, so that the problem of waterlogging would not arise in the twin cities during the monsoon. According to information, the cleaning of big drains is being done by the agencies on war footing in the twin cities.

Mayor Suman Bahamani, Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, Akhil Pilani, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Kuldeep Singh and other officials of the MCYJ are regularly inspecting the cleaning of drains to ensure that the drains were cleaned properly in maximum area every day.

“Now the MCYJ has decided to monitor the work of cleaning of drains with the help of drones. Besides big drains, the small drains are also being cleaned,” said Akhil Pilani. He said the drones would also provide information about where the drains had not been cleaned.

“Apart from this, it will also be known where there is dirt/garbage in the drains, where the drain is blocked, where there is encroachment on the drain. After finding these details, the drains can be cleaned on time,” said Pilani.

He appealed to the residents of the twin cities to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation in cleaning the drains.

He said it was often seen that people threw garbage such as broken furniture, damaged beds, plastic, polythene bags, clothes and other items in the drains, clogging them at a number of places.

“This habit itself causes trouble for the public. They should not throw garbage in the drains. They should put garbage only in the vehicles of the MCYJ, which are coming door to door to collect waste,” said Pilani.

He said now those, who threw garbage in the drains, would be monitored with the help of drones and action would be taken against the persons found throwing garbage in the drain.
