As per orders issued by the DM, e-commerce companies have been prohibited from accepting any online order of firecrackers. These orders of the DM would remain effective in the district from October 30 to November 1.

“The responsibility of ensuring compliance of this order will be of SDMs, Tehsildars, SHOs, MC officials, Block Development and Panchayat Officers and officials of the Fire Department. They will strictly implement these orders by coordinating with each other in their respective areas,” the DM said.

The DM has authorised all SDMs to identify place for the sale of only green firecrackers in their respective jurisdictions. SDMs have been asked to issue temporary licences to traders, including other applicants besides permanent licence holders, who fulfil all requirements, to sell green firecrackers. The DM has also issued instructions to officials of HSPCB, Yamunanagar, to regularly monitor the air quality in the district.

Aas per the Supreme Court directions, only green firecrackers, which cause less pollution, can be sold through licenced traders. The production, sale and use of other firecrackers has been completely banned as these cause a lot of air and noise pollution and also create solid waste-related problems. “Teams of the administration will seize fake green firecrackers from retailers and recommend cancellation of their licences,” the DM said.
