Faridabad, September 4

In a double delight for Faridabad district, its shooters Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adhana won gold and silver, respectively, at the Tokyo Paralympic Games on Saturday.

While 19-year-old Narwal shot a Paralympic record 218, Adhana, 39, finished second with a score of 216.7 in 50m mixed pistol event. Elated by their success, their families and friends back home held celebrations in a big way.

Narwal’s mother Santosh said, “Winning gold at Paralympics is a huge feat. I am grateful that my son’s hard work has paid off and my prayers have been heard.”

His wrestler father Dilbagh Singh Narwal said, “I can’t be more proud. Manish’s success in his Paralympics debut is sure to motivate youngsters of the country.”

Manish, whose right hand is impaired, took up the sport in 2016 by starting practise at a local shooting range. Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma and DC Jitender Yadav visited the family

near Sahupura village here to extend greetings. Locals distributed sweets and danced to dhol beats.

A similar atmosphere was witnessed at Adhana’s house. Describing it as unique feat, his brother Udham Singh said, “Winning two medals at Paralympics is no mean feat. It will go a long way in inspiring budding shooters.”
