Drug peddler sentenced to 10 years in jail for smuggling ganja

A drug peddler was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the District and Sessions Court in Gurugram on Tuesday after being found guilty of smuggling ganja, a banned narcotic substance.

The convicted individual, Kuldeep Singh, hails from Jalalpur Sasni village in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested by the Farrukhnagar crime branch near the toll plaza on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) highway in Gurugram on December 24, 2022. At the time of his arrest, authorities recovered 32.78 kg of ganja from him.

A criminal case was filed against Kuldeep under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Bilaspur police station on the same day.

During interrogation, the police learned Kuldeep had been temporarily residing in Indraprastha Colony, Loni district, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and had brought the ganja to Gurugram for distribution.

Following his arrest, investigators gathered evidence and witness testimonies, which were presented in court. Based on this, the prosecution successfully proved the case.

Agreeing with the evidence, Additional District and Sessions Judge Saurabh Gupta sentenced Kuldeep Singh to 10 years in jail and imposed Rs 1 lakh fine.
