At the Jakhal sub-tehsil office in Fatehabad on Friday morning a resident, Lal Singh, attacked Patwari Krishan Kumar with a stick under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, Lal Singh had earlier visited the office to get a Jamabandi Fard (land record verification). However, he returned an hour later, intoxicated and armed with a stick, and hit the patwari with the stick on the head and arm, leaving him injured.

Other patwaris and a numberdar present at the scene tried to intervene, but Lal Singh tried to attack them as well. The injured patwari was immediately taken to the Community Health Centre in Jakhal, where he is receiving treatment.

After the incident, the police arrived at the office and began an investigation based on the injured patwari’s statement.

In response to the attack, the Patwar Association of Fatehabad held an emergency meeting at the Jakhal sub-tehsil office under the leadership of district president Suresh Kumar. The association unanimously decided that all patwaris in the district would stop work until the accused was arrested.

Later, Tohana SDM Prateek Hooda visited the office and met the injured patwari to gather details. He assured the association that strict legal action would be taken against the attacker. The association warned that if the accused was not arrested soon, they would protest from at the state level.

Following the attack, all work at the sub-tehsil office came to a standstill, causing inconvenience to residents seeking land-related services. The patwaris have stated that they would not compromise on their safety and not resume work until justice was done.
