Deputy Speaker and Nalwa MLA Ranbir Gangwa directed the district administration that the construction work for the expansion of the OP Jindal minor canal should start by August 25.

Gangwa, while chairing a meeting of the district officials, said that this project would serve a large section of people in villages of Hisar district. He asked the District Revenue Officer to complete the land acquisition work within the next 10 days so that the Irrigation Department officials can start the work of immediately.

Late Om Prakash Jindal, a former minister, had promised people the expansion of the minor canal years ago. Approximately Rs 1.40 crore will be spent on the work. “With the expansion of this canal, thousands of farmers will get water for their fields,” he said. The Deputy Speaker had called a meeting of officials of various departments to push for this project.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, District Revenue Officer Chetna Chaudhary, Superintending Engineer of Irrigation Department Vimal Kumar Bishnoi, Executive Engineer Sandeep Mathur and officials of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.

The Superintending Engineer of Irrigation Department informed the Deputy Speaker that the paperwork related to this project was almost complete. “As soon as the land acquisition is completed, the tender for allotment of work will be floated. This minor canal will be extended by 4,000 feet, he said.
