She alleged that EC is tampering with the voting rights of Bihar’s electorate under a conspiracy to deprive as many as 65 lakh voters of their right to vote.
Addressing a public meeting in Narwana Assembly segment in Jind district today, Selja said that she had just returned from the campaign in Bihar which is bound to go for the Assembly poll and had sensed resentment among the electorate against the BJP and the move of the EC which is “an apparent attempt to benefit the BJP”.
“It is evident that people will teach the BJP a lesson in Bihar,” she claimed adding that people of Bihar were fully aware and this time, they would not fall into BJP’s trap. In Bihar, the Mahagathbandhan government would be formed.
At the event in Jajanwala village in Jind district, Selja paid tributes to martyred soldier Pradeep Nain, saying that his sacrifice can never be forgotten.
The Congress MP also lambasted Haryana’s BJP government stating that the despite being in its third term, the BJP has not even fulfilled the promises it made to the people of Haryana. “Whenever elections approach, BJP starts making hollow promises which are never fulfilled by it.”
Talking about Bihar, she said that had the government in Bihar undertaken genuine development works there, people would not have been forced to migrate to other states. “Jobs were not provided and the people of Bihar had to leave their land and move to other states in search of livelihood. BJP has nothing to do with the people. It remembers them only at the time of elections,” she alleged.
Selja said that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has raised questions on the Election Commission’s functioning based on facts and now, the Commission must answer.
