Eight more villages declared drug-free by Sirsa police dept

In a significant step against drug abuse, the Sirsa police on Saturday declared eight more villages in the Ding area as drug-free. The Ding Police Team visited each village, helping individuals access treatment and encouraging the youth to stay away from drugs.

DSP Sanjeev Balhara, who was the chief guest at the event, urged parents to guide their children towards education and sports to keep them constructively engaged. He also called upon village councils and social organisations to actively support the police’s anti-drug campaign, contributing to a safer, drug-free society.

The police department honoured sarpanches of these villages with mementos. They included Mamta Rani from Tajia Khera, Seema Devi from Sherpura, Kamla Devi from Kukarthana, Poonam Devi from Kanwarpura, Sumitra Devi from Moriwala, Ved Prakash from Kusumbi, Om Prakash from Dhani Khunwali, and Daulat Ram from Nirban.

DSP Balhara encouraged other village councils to follow the lead of these villages and cooperate fully with the police to make their communities drug-free.

The district police have, to date, declared 130 villages and eight wards in Sirsa and Ellenabad drug-free. The police have encouraged all village councils to establish sports grounds and promote recreational activities among children and youth, helping them steer clear of drug use.
