Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesman said Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal had given instructions to the district police to crack down on crime and criminals.
He said acting on these instructions, the team of the anti-vehicle theft cell recovered stolen bikes from the accused.
Rajesh Kumar, incharge of the anti-vehicle theft cell said Azad Kumar of Model Town lodged a complaint on July 30, 2025 that his motorcycle was stolen from Sarni Chowk.
He said a team headed by Sub-inspector Gurudarshan Singh was formed to arrest the accused.
He further said that during the investigation, the team received information that Anshu of Shibu Colony was lodged in district jail, Jagadhri in a case of tractor theft.
He added that the accused was taken on a production warrant from the jail and taken on one-day production remand.
He said accused Anshu told them that he had stolen a bike from Sarani Chowk (Bhagat Singh Park) on July 30.
“A total of eight stolen bikes were recovered from him during his production remand,” said Rajesh Kumar.
He said the accused was on Tuesday produced in the court and the court sent him to judicial custody.
He further said that 10 cases of theft had already been registered against the accused which were pending in the court.
