Karnal, December 1

The Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA) at a meeting in Panipat on Sunday was decided to hold a protest rally against the dismissal of seven engineers in Panipat on December 8.

General Secretary KK Malik said the All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) had requested the Haryana Chief Minister to direct the Power Department authorities to revoke the service termination orders of assistant engineers. In its letter to the Chief Minister, it drew attention towards unlawful termination of service of seven assistant engineers and reversion of seven assistant engineers of Bijli Nigam on the grounds of not passing the departmental examination of accounts paper.

Malik said the engineers were agitated over the issue and further course of action would be decided in the protest rally. The transfer policy issued by the power utilities had a large number of deficiencies and it was demanded that suggestions of the HPEA may be incorporated before transfers.
