In Sirsa, former municipal councillor Sushil Saini, along with residents, held a dramatic protest against alleged corruption in a cremation ground project and the ongoing construction of roads and streets under the municipal limits. The protesters staged a symbolic funeral procession of the Municipal Council and district administration, raising slogans against the officials and accusing them of large-scale irregularities.

According to Saini, serious malpractices have been committed in the development work of the Shivpuri cremation ground located on Gaushala Road. He alleged that despite the release of Rs 66 lakh for the project, no significant work has been done. “Not a single shed or boundary wall has been constructed, and even the main gate road is incomplete,” said Saini. He claimed that fake measurements were submitted to release funds fraudulently and demanded an investigation into the misuse of public money.

The protesters expressed their anger over the administration’s inaction. They said repeated complaints had been ignored, and the Municipal Council had failed to respond or take corrective steps. Saini further claimed that the construction material for the cremation ground road had already arrived, but the work was abruptly stopped without explanation.

The former councillor demanded an immediate and thorough inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities and warned that the protests would continue until strict action was taken against the guilty. Highlighting the impact of the stalled work, he added that the incomplete Shivpuri Road had caused inconvenience to thousands of residents for over three and a

half months.
