On the complaint of the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO), Radaur, Shyam Lal Sharma, a case was registered against Surender Singh at Jathlana police station on March 25.

Mange Ram, sarpanch of the village, lodged a complaint with the BDPO that Surender Singh had been sarpanch from 2000 to 2005 and had got a mobile company tower installed in the village in 2006.

He further alleged that the former sarpanch had given a piece of land to the tower company on lease, claiming that the land belonged to him, but it was panchayat land.

He alleged that the sarpanch caused financial loss to the gram panchayat, as he had been pocketing the rent amount of the tower since 2006.

He demanded that the tower be removed from the panchayat land and the amount recovered from Surender Singh.
