Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister and senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday gave a boost to Rewari outgoing MLA and Congress nominee Chiranjeev Rao’s claim for the post of deputy chief minister, if the party comes to power in Haryana.

While addressing a poll meeting at Budhla village here, Pilot appealed to the people to vote for Chiranjeev stating that he would get a big responsibility if you make him win in the election.

Some days ago, Chiranjeev laid claim to the post of deputy chief minister stating that he needs this position to serve the people better and ensure overall development of Ahirwal, if the Congress comes to power in the state.

“It is my guarantee that Chiranjeev and I will work together for the holistic development of Rewari. The BJP has been in power for the past decade but it did nothing for this area. Now, the time has come to oust it from power and usher in a new era of development in Rewari by bringing the Congress back to power,” the Rajasthan leader said.

“The Union government led by PM Narendra Modi is walking on crutches, while the double engine government in Haryana failed to perform and blew smoke only. In the recent Lok Sabha election, the Congress won 5 out of 10 seats in Haryana, while in Rajasthan, we won 11 out of 25 seats, which is a clear indication that the BJP has failed to live up to people’s expectations,” said Pilot.

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP over farmers’ issues, the former deputy chief minister said the BJP was arrogant and it had nothing to do with their welfare and other sections of the society.

“The BJP government has brought anti-people decisions one after the other. Hundreds of innocent farmers lost their lives in the protest against three black farm laws. Now, its anti-constitution attitude can be seen clearly,” said Pilot.
