Experts for integrating environmental responsibility with economic growth

488 scholars, academicians from 18 Indian states & 9 countries register for International conference

Dyal Singh College, Karnal, on Friday organised an international multidisciplinary conference on the topic “Inclusive Green Economies: Women, Entrepreneurship and Environmental Concerns”. Conducted in a hybrid (online & offline) format, the event brought together experts to explore sustainable economic models, gender inclusivity and environmental issues.

Principal Dr Ashima Gakhar emphasised the need to discuss the intersection of economic growth, gender equality and sustainability, highlighting women as key drivers of change in the green economy.

Dyal Singh College Trust Society and Governing Body president DK Raina and honorary secretary Vice Admiral Satish Soni (retd) addressed the gathering at the event.

Dr Pooja Malhotra, conference co-convener, introduced the theme, setting the stage for discussions.

Ghanshyam Shukla, an IFS officer, as the chief guest, underscored the urgency of integrating environmental responsibility into economic growth, and the role of women entrepreneurs in sustainable businesses.

Keynote speaker Dr Soma Dey, FMS, Delhi University, emphasised the role of policy support and research in shaping green economies.

Dr Gambhir Singh Chauhan, UGC Joint Secretary, shared valuable insights, complementing the discussions.

An e-abstract book comprising the research discussed at the conference was unveiled. Dignitaries were felicitated.

Dr Shweta Yadav, organising secretary, delivered the vote of thanks. At the event, an exhibition showcasing innovative sustainable business ideas and research initiatives was set up.

The plenary sessions were conducted in two parallel modes, both offline and online. The offline session featured speakers Anita Dua, Mahabir Narwal and Anita Bhatnagar, who addressed various aspects of green economies.

Online sessions included talks by Dr Heinz Herrmann (Australia), Swetha Stotram Bhashyam (USA), Dr Sudhir Rana (UAE) and Rachna (Canada), providing global perspectives on the topic.

The conference witnessed 488 registrations from scholars and academicians from 18 Indian states and nine countries. Paper presentations were made in parallel technical sessions. The valedictory session was led by Manjula Chaudhary, Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Kurukshetra University, where she, as the chief guest, emphasised translating conference ideas into real-world policies.

Guest of honour Dr Ashu Pasricha, Chairperson, Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, followed with her address, shedding light on the evolving role of women entrepreneurs in green economic transitions.

Dr Pooja Malhotra summarised key discussions, followed by a vote of thanks from Dr Anita Agarwal.
