Under the project, an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) will be established in Rohtak. “It is a Smart City initiative designed to bring various urban management services such as traffic regulation, public safety, healthcare monitoring and civic administration under one central digital system. The ICCC will serve as the main control hub from where the entire city can be monitored and managed efficiently,” said the DC.

What is the main objective of the project?

The main objective of the ICCC project is to make Rohtak city safer, smarter and administratively more efficient. It aims to provide smooth traffic movement, ensure pedestrian safety and enable better coordination among departments. By using modern technology, the administration wants to create a more responsive system that can handle city-related challenges such as congestion, emergencies and public service delivery effectively.

How will the command centre function?

The ICCC will, as per DC Sachin Gupta, function through the use of digital technologies such as CCTV surveillance, data sensors and integrated communication systems. These tools will collect and analyse real-time data on traffic, parking, law enforcement and other civic issues. The information gathered will be monitored at a central control room, allowing authorities to respond immediately to any situation. The integrated setup will make it possible to enforce traffic rules electronically, manage emergencies and ensure that public facilities are maintained efficiently.

What responsibilities have been assigned do different departments?

Under the project, different departments have been given specific responsibilities. The Municipal Corporation (MC) will prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and will develop the D-Park Junction. The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran will handle the development of the New Bus Stand Junction and the Public Works Department will take charge of the improvement of Sonepat Road or Chhotu Ram Chowk. The overall coordination and supervision of the project will be done by Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta, who will ensure that all departments work together effectively. MC Commissioner Anand Kumar Sharma say the work is in progress and the project will be executed soon.

How will the project benefit residents?

DC Sachin Gupta claims that the ICCC project will bring several benefits to the people of Rohtak. Traffic will become more organised and safer. Pedestrians will be better protected. There will be fewer accidents and smoother transport movement across the city. Violations of traffic rules will be detected automatically and e-challans will be issued, leading to fairer enforcement. Emergency responses, such as medical or police assistance will become faster due to real-time monitoring. Overall, the ICCC will improve city management and make Rohtak a safer, cleaner and more comfortable place for its residents, he added.
