Gurugram, September 6

An alleged fake sports management company, busted by the city police, has duped over 20 aspiring cricketers, including a Mumbai-based aspiring cricketer, of Rs 30 lakh by promising them entry into the KKR team in the forthcoming IPL.

The interrogation of two directors brought to fore a bigger scam, where they used the BCCI’s name to dupe aspiring cricketers. Three directors have been nabbed by the Gurugram police for allegedly duping a local cricketer of Rs 10 lakh by promising him entry into the Himachal state team. The accused won the trust of their victims by claiming to be BCCI-approved and showed them some fraud papers from BCCI to befool them. The police have seized all these documents along with mobiles, laptops, Rs 4 lakh and is in touch with the Mumbai police.

“We suspect this to be a nationwide racket and may have more complaints and victims joining in. They have confessed 20 such youths, but we are to trace any more victims or complaints. There were fraudulently using BCCI name and have a complaint of fraud in Mumbai. We are getting in touch with Mumbai police and BCCI authorities for investigation, “said inspector Bijender Kumar, head of EOW-2 and investigating officer.
