The Municipal Corporation Faridabad (MCF) issued as many as 52 challans to offenders for flouting pollution norms and collected a penalty of Rs 74,500 from them on Friday.

A spokesperson for the civic body of the 52 challans, said 38 were for using polythene bags, 10 for dumping of garbage in the open or in an improper manner and two for burning waste in violation of the pollution norms.

He said a challan each for running a dairy within civic limits and open defecation (OD) was also issued.

The Municipal Corporation issued a total of 4,021 challans and collected a penalty of Rs 51.42 lakh since January 1 this year, said

Bishan Tewatia, an official of the civic body. These include a maximum of 2,017 challans for using polythene bags and items.
