Power Minister Anil Vij has recommended the suspension of six employees of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVN) after a tragic incident occurred in Haibatpur village of the district, where a farmer lost his life after being electrocuted by a broken high-voltage power line while working on his field.

The deceased, Rajesh Kumar, was fatally injured on July 6 after coming into contact with a snapped high voltage power line.

Taking serious note of the incident, Vij has recommended the suspension of six officials —the SDO, JE and four linemen.

An FIR has also been registered at the Nigdhu police station, and an investigation is underway.

Calling it a case of serious negligence, Vij directed strict action against the officials concerned.

“This tragedy could have been prevented if timely action was taken on complaints. Such negligence will not be tolerated,” the minister said in a statement. One of the senior officials confirmed said he was yet to receive the official communication.
