Farmers demand MSP for moong crop, threaten protest

Farmers from Rajpura and Goriwala villages in Sirsa district have submitted a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner, demanding that their moong crop be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). In their letter, farmers Atma Ram, Vinod Kumar, Sandeep Pareek, Anita and Darshana Devi stated they had registered their crop on the "Meri Fasal Mera Byora" portal but faced rejection at the mandi.

The farmers said that despite taking their moong samples to HAFED Shop Number 13 in the Sirsa mandi multiple times, officials refused to purchase their produce. Even after they brought a fully loaded tractor-trailer, the crop was not accepted.

The Deputy Commissioner’s intervention led to instructions for HAFED officials, but DM, HAFED, stated that the crop samples were rejected at the CWC warehouse by an official, citing quality issues. The farmers, however, maintained their crop was of good quality and alleged harassment by the authorities.

Frustrated by the situation, farmers urged the administration to ensure the purchase of their crop at the MSP, warning the officials of an agitation if their demands are not met.
