In Sirsa, farmers marked the 100th day of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike at the Khanauri Border. To show their support, a group of farmers planned to go on a 24-hour hunger strike at the local Mini-Secretariat. However, they were stopped by the police near the Railway Overbridge due to Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s visit to the city.

The police prevented the farmers from proceeding, but the farmers, under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Ekta (BKE), refused to go back. They sat on the overbridge in protest for about an hour, expressing their anger at the police action. After the Vice President's visit ended, the farmers were allowed to continue their journey and reach the Mini-Secretariat.

Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh, the state president of BKE, explained that the farmers had been protesting since February 13, demanding a law guaranteeing minimum support prices (MSP) and other rights for the farmers. Their struggle, known as “Kisan Andolan -2,” was ongoing, and Dallewal’s hunger strike, which began on November 26, 2024, reached its 100th day on March 5.

The farmers gathered at the Mini Secretariat to begin their 24-hour hunger strike, with more than 100 farmers from various villages, including Rori, Makhan, Bacher, Nathor, Matuwala, Gudiakhera, Raghuana, Kharia, Dhotar, Sultanpuria, Moriwala, Jodhpuria, Thiraj, Faggu, Bhangu and others, participating.
