Haryana’s Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister, Ranbir Gangwa, assured farmers that the state government was committed to compensating them for losses caused by the recent spell of heavy rainfall. Chairing the monthly District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting at Panchayat Bhawan, he said that excessive rains had caused waterlogging in several parts of the state, damaging standing crops.

“The government has already opened the compensation portal where the farmers can register their losses,” he informed. Responding to criticism from the Opposition, Gangwa said the portal had enabled the government to disburse Rs 15,465 crore in compensation over the past 10 years, nearly 15 times more than the previous governments. “The BJP government stands firmly with every section of society, particularly farmers. Wherever the crops have been damaged, compensation will be given promptly,” he added.

Highlighting recent Cabinet decisions, Gangwa said the government had approved a major scheme for women. From September 25, on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, the women belonging to families with an annual income of up to Rs 1 lakh will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 2,100 directly in their bank accounts. Around 20 lakh women will benefit in the first phase, with subsequent expansions planned. “This is a historic step that fulfills our manifesto promise,” Gangwa said.

He also condemned derogatory remarks allegedly made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Vote Adhikar Yatra in Bihar. “Such statements reflect the culture of the Congress party, which is why people continue to reject them,” he said.

During the meeting, a total of 14 complaints were presented, out of which nine were resolved on the spot, while five were referred to senior officials for further inquiry. Gangwa instructed officers to listen carefully to grievances in their respective offices and resolve these at the earliest to save people from unnecessary delays.

The meeting also brought relief to Rekha, a resident of Munak village, who had been struggling to claim insurance benefits after her husband’s death. On the minister’s intervention, the insurance company transferred Rs 2 lakh directly to her account, leaving her visibly emotional and grateful. Similarly, issues relating to power supply, substandard construction of a village bridge and improper roadwork were also addressed, with corrective measures already taken in most cases.
