Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsIn a major crackdown on the narcotics trade, Fatehabad Police have seized assets worth nearly Rs 1.4 crore belonging to five known drug peddlers in the district. The action, carried out under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, is part of the police’s ongoing campaign against drugs.
Superintendent of Police Siddhant Jain said the step was aimed at hitting traffickers where it hurts most. “The message is clear — it is no longer just about sending drug offenders to jail. Their illegally acquired assets will also be targeted and seized. Those selling drugs will lose everything. Arresting them is not enough; their wealth must also be taken away,” he said.
Officials said the action followed thorough investigations by the Crime Branch, Cyber Cell and District Intelligence Unit. After completing legal formalities, the police seized multiple properties and reported the matter to the competent authority.
The individuals whose assets were confiscated include Vinod Kumar of Khabda Kalan (Fatehabad), Mehanga Singh of Badalpur (Patiala), Mahender Singh alias Mindu of Loha Khera, Bablu of Gurunanakpura (Fatehabad), and Nachhataro, wife of Roshan Lal, of Nanheri (Fatehabad).
The seized properties include residential houses, tractors, cars, jewellery and cash, with values ranging between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 41 lakh.
SP Jain further warned of intensified action in the coming days. “A list of more suspected traffickers has already been prepared. Either leave the drug trade or be prepared to lose everything,” he cautioned.
