Karnal, August 1
After a 16-year-old girl died under mysterious circumstances at Bhanpura village on July 25, the Kaithal Sadar police have registered a case against her father and two others.
Based on a complaint filed by Rekha, the mother of the deceased, the police have launched an investigation. Rekha claimed that she was killed by her husband Kirpal Singh, and two others, who immediately cremated her body in an attempt to cover up the crime.
The police suspect it to be a case of honour killing.
Kaithal SHO Rohtash Kumar confirmed that a case had been registered against Kirpal Singh and two others under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. “We are investigating the case from two angles — murder and suicide,” the SHO added.
