Filing of nomination papers for Assembly elections begins today

The nomination process for the Haryana Assembly elections is going to start from September 5 in Pataudi, Sohna, Badshahpur and Gurgaon constituencies in the respective Sub Divisional Magistrate offices. The returning officers of these four constituencies have completed the preparations for nomination.

District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer of Gurugram Nishant Kumar Yadav said the time for filing nomination papers would be from 11 am to 3 pm. He said the nomination process would continue on Saturday, while there would be a holiday on September 8. Candidates can submit nomination papers till 3 pm on September 12. After that, no nomination paper would be accepted by the returning officer.

Yadav added that the age of the candidate for filing nomination should be 25 years on September 13, 2024. The nomination papers of candidates younger than this would not be accepted. If the Election Commission has declared a candidate ineligible for not depositing election expenses three years ago, then his nomination paper would also not be accepted for contesting the elections.

Similarly, if a person has been sentenced by the court for a period of two years or more, he would considered ineligible.

Yadav said for nomination, the candidate would have to submit four passport size photographs and one postcard size photograph with white background and its soft copy.

The General category candidates would have to pay a security deposit of Rs 10,000 and the Scheduled Caste candidates Rs 5,000. Cash counters were set up in the SDM offices for depositing the security deposit, he added.
