Putting an end to the suspense over his stand in the Assembly, JJP MLA from Tohana Devender Babli supported the BJP-JJP government during the floor test to ensure the win of the government in the no-confidence motion today.

Earlier in the day, his supporters gathered at his office at Tohana of Fatehabad district to discuss his possible move. Manoj Babli, brother of Devender Babli, said about 500 workers attended the meeting who left it to the MLA to take a final call on the matter.

“We discussed the issue whether the MLA should support or oppose the no-confidence motion in view of the farmers’ agitation. The sentiments of the workers were conveyed to him,” Manoj said while refusing to share the details of the discussion.

A political observer said that yesterday’s utterances of the Tohana MLA and the workers’ meeting at his residence were attempts to project him as a sympathiser of farmers.
