Fire destroyed wheat crop in 6 acres at Joniawas village in the Farukhnagar area this morning. Besides, 80 sprinkler pipes, worth Rs 4 lakh, were gutted.

The cause behind the fire could not be known. The fields belonged to two farmers. Villagers managed the fire from spreading and doused it using tube-well water. A fire-tender also reached spot and extinguished the flames.
