The Red Cross Wing of Indira Gandhi National College, Ladwa, organised a one-day training camp on basic first aid and disaster management on Saturday. The event aimed to enhance students’ skills in these crucial areas.

As many as 138 students participated in the training session, benefiting from hands-on experience and expert-led discussions.

Dr Romesh Singh Bhal from the Department of Botany spoke about the Red Cross’s mission to inspire students to serve the nation.

He highlighted the importance of providing immediate medical treatment to those in need during emergencies.

He encouraged students to share the knowledge gained in the training session with their families and neighbours, extending the reach of this vital information.

Anju Kashyap, district training officer, Red Cross Society, Kurukshetra, and Kiran Kashyap, lecturer (First Aid and Home Nursing) and social emergency response volunteer with the Indian Red Cross Society, Kurukshetra, demonstrated various emergency treatment techniques using a mannequin. They covered essential first aid procedures for conditions such as migraines, heart attacks and road-accident injuries.

Principal Dr Kushal Pal emphasised the importance of first-aid knowledge.

He said such timely intervention was critical in saving lives until professional help arrived.
