Kurukshetra, January 20

The Kurukshetra police have booked five persons in connection with the firing incident at Umri village last evening, in which a man was killed and his wife was injured.

The deceased was identified as Subhash and the injured as Suman. The accused are Garvit, Shubham, Himanshu, Gaurav and Keshav.

In her complaint, Suman stated that about three-four months ago, they had some dispute with Garvit, Shubham and Himanshu in which Garvit and Shubham had suffered injuries.

A case was registered against Suman’s husband Subhash, her brother Anuj and five more persons. The accused harboured a feeling of animosity against Subhash and his family. As per the complaint, the accused reached Subhash’s house on Friday evening.

All five accused were carrying weapons and they opened fire at Subhash, Suman and their daughter Khushi in which Subhash and Suman suffered bullet injuries.

They were rushed to a private hospital where Subhash died while Suman was referred to the PGI in Chandigarh, from where she was discharged after treatment on Saturday.

Station House Officer (SHO), Thanesar Sadar police station, Dinesh Kumar said, “A case has been registered against the five accused. Efforts are on to arrest the accused.”
