Saurabh Verma is believed to have masterminded the robbery. According to the police, the gang had conducted a reconnaissance of the jewellery shop, located in Sector 7 market, before carrying out the heist on January 7 this year. Four of the accused, wearing masks, entered the shop, while the fifth waited outside. The robbers fled on two motorcycles after completing the heist in approximately 10 minutes.

The stolen items included Rs 2 lakh cash, 50 gm of gold jewellery, 10 kg of silver items and 350 gemstones, according to the shop owner’s complaint. The police registered a case based on the complaint.

The accused would be taken into police remand to assist with the recovery of the stolen valuables, weapons and the vehicles used during the crime, said the police.
