He said on the instructions of Commissioner of the MCYJ Mahaveer Prasad, a joint team led by him and the SDO of HSPCB, Gaurav, was formed to catch the utility vehicle.

“We started an investigation outside the office of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar, to impound the utility vehicle. He further said that during interrogation, the driver told them that the material was loaded in the vehicle from the shop of a wholesaler situated on Railway Road in Yamunanagar. He said he was taking the banned polythene carry bags to Renukaji in Himachal Pradesh.

“The caught polythene was confiscated. The shopkeeper was fined Rs 25,000 in connection with the recovery,” said Anil Nain. He said strict action would be taken against those selling banned polythene carry bags. He added that after using the polythene, people threw it in drains and sewerage, blocking these.

MCYJ Commissioner Mahaveer Prasad said the Haryana Shahri Swachhata Abhiyan was being run to make all cities of the state clean and beautiful.
