The district police carried out a flag march in areas falling in the jurisdiction of the police stations of Sarai, Palla and Sector 31 here today.

A police official said the march was led by ACP Rajesh Lohan as a mark of assurance on the part of the police and security forces to give confidence to the people that they were free to cast their votes in a fair and free manner. He said the jawans of the district police and a company of the paramilitary force took a round of the interior parts and the main roads in the area.

He said residents were asked to report any sensitive information on the helpline number 112 or the nearest police station. They can report any information connected with the movement and presence of anti-social elements or those involved in criminal or nefarious activities, like drug trafficking and liquor distribution in the area. He said flag marches were being carried out in all sectors of the districts as part of the measures and preparations for smooth and unhindered culmination of the election process.
