From bringing scholars from 16 countries, to organising events in 51 and setting up an exhibition, the Ministry will be showing its active participation at the mahotsav.
While the Saras and Crafts fairs will be organised from November 15 to December 5, the main events will be held from November 24 to December 1.
Speaking to The Tribune, Upender Singhal, honorary secretary of the Kurukshetra Development Board, said “All preparations are underway for the IGM and this year, the Ministry of External Affairs is also participating actively in the celebrations. The ministry has taken five initiatives, including bringing 25 Gita scholars from 16 countries for an International Gita Conference, celebration of IGM in 51 countries, setting up an exhibition displaying different translated copies of Gita at Purushottam Pura Bagh, and bringing 20 priests from Fiji and Trinidad and Tobago for two days to participate in various festival programmes. Besides this, ambassadors of different countries will be visiting the mahotsav and cultural troops will also perform during the mahotsav.”
He added, “For the first time, 25 stalls will be given to nearly eight countries to showcase art and culture at Purushottam Pura Bagh. The point is that when we talk about celebrating International Gita Mahotsav, then we have to bring scholars and visitors from the countries and also mark our presence in different countries during the mahotsav. The level of the mahotsav is being increased gradually.”
The scholars will participate in the 10th International Gita Conference 2025, to be held at Kurukshetra University from November 24–26 on the theme “Svadharma in Shrimad Bhagavad Gita: Inspiration for duty, peace and harmony.
Upender Singhal said while Madhya Pradesh is the partner state for this year’s International Gita Mahotsav and a special cultural pavilion from Madhya Pradesh would be established at the Purushottam Pura Bagh, offering visitors an experience of the state’s diverse traditions, the partner country would be finalised by the Ministry soon.
