“Initially, a call was made from an international number on Friday. The caller introduced himself as a member of a notorious gang and demanded Rs 2 crore, threatening dire consequences if the demand was not met. Shortly afterward, he sent a message repeating the same demand. My son then filed a police complaint,” Naresh Sharma told ‘The Tribune’.

He appreciated the prompt response of the police, saying they took action and immediately provided security to his son.

DCP Amit Dahiya confirmed that a case was registered and the investigation was on. “Security cover has been provided to the complainant,” he added.
